Testing Day..

Finally, we wait until the testing day.. There are so many different structure of other group crafts. It make me so amazing that they can think out such an idea. Some even have cover on it. However, we also have try very hard and spent lot of time to finish our craft. So we are also proud of it la..

What I didn't expect is we need to stand on it to pass the test. Our base is sufficient to withstand 3 person sit on it but we can't stand up. It can not balanced when we stand. It may due to the shape of the base. I think triangle may be will be better. Or we can make the surface area larger. The unity is also important.

Part 3: Cutting Bamboo

Finally the bamboos we wanted is come.


We cut it into 3 different length which is 160cm for base, 43cm and 47cm.
The length is expected longer a bit because there need some space for tightening by rope.

Part 2: Dicussion 2 & Cutting Bamboo

We need to send up our sketch which contain our rough idea about the dome. That time, we discuss again and decided to have little change on it but not more.


We have another assignment for studio so we decide to cut the bamboo in one time.
This cause us cut too much of bamboos and finally we force to carry our bamboos walk back to our hostel. TT

However, we still need to buy some bamboos because the bamboos we have is not enough and we worry there may have problem such as wrongly cut so we decided to prepare some for such condition.

Part 1: Discussion

We started discussing structure of our dome. Beside radius, base length are also taking into consider.

Real Construction

Last Wednesday, we have been told by our lecturer, Mr. Wan B to build one modal of a geodesic dome using bamboo satay sticks. After the class, I decided to build the 3V model of geodesic dome. By the help of dome calculator, I set my dome radius to 15cm and I get the 3 measurements for the length of bamboo sticks.

I started mark the length and cutting bamboo satay sticks.

Finally, my dome is completed with size 5/8 of the sphere.

Virtual Construction

There are six elements in the production of model which include intention, act, product, actor, rule and place. In order to produce a high quality product, we must fulfill the six elements required there.

The place in the photo definitely is my home. My house located at Kampung Benggali, Taiping, Perak. From this photo, I try to discuss about the six elements found. First, we need to have intention when start doing a thing. Our main aim at home is to create a comfortable home for purpose of resting, make home like paradise, when we tired, no matter come back from school, from work, first place we think about is our home.

Then, we must turn thinking to action. Everyone should hold their responsibility to produce a peace environment. Members of family have their personal responsibility. For example, help to some chores. In this photo, my sister has help to sweep the floor. Therefore, she also is an actor. The specific place is in our living room.

At home, we also have some rules. These rules include our parent try to control their emotion well and disciplining us by discussing the problem and mistake with us, everybody must involve in daily chores like doing the dishes, clean up house, we need to tolerance each other, don’t spending money you don't have, reduce quarrel and so on. A clear set of house rules make us work together.

At the end, we will creating a stable home environment which become our product.

Every weekend our family will have sport activity. One of it is swimming which consider element of act. The swimming pool we always go is the Coronation Swimming Pool. A place quite far from our house. I started to learn swimming when secondary school which is teach by my father. I still remember that time my sister and I work very hard to do practice with my father. My father is a swimming lover. I intend to practice hard to be just like my father. This exercise can help to reduce risk of disease, lower depression, and encourage a healthy life. Therefore, I have become stronger than before and seldom get sick. This is the best product that I get from learning this exercise.

In addition, every places have their own rule. From the picture, we can see that outside the entrance have a signboard. It warn us that we shouldn't bring outside food in. So that, we must follow the rule, if not, we are not allow to enter the swimming pool.
